Her Role in the Novel
Jordan Baker is a famous golfer, who is therefore very rich and high class. She is sometimes involved in "scandals", and would most likely be one of the people in magazines, such as the Town Tattle. She probably also would be the center of gossip, as many people know who she is. Although being rich she shows a sharp contrast to Daisy, whom she is quite close to. She might also be a future love interest for Nick, which is foreshadowed when she says, "'I hate careless people, that's why I like you" (58), and is further suggested when Nick says, ". . . and for a moment, I thought I loved her." (58)
